McLaren's new car looks very nice, but how does it rank on the grid? After the car's launch, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri told GPBlog and others how the car feels and how this compares to the simulator.

They only got to do a few laps, and they weren't optimal either: ''It's hard to say, just because it was wet here. You don't really get that many laps. It's on tyres which aren't even the actual tyres we use. So, difficult to compare too many things.'' said Lando Norris, who was happy to get back into the car. ''But the main thing is, jumped in and felt very comfortable straight away. No surprises or anything. So, comfortable and could just push it to the limit on just those couple of little areas. But, honestly, not a lot more to say than that.'' continued the Briton.

Difference between the sim and the track

''Both feel good. It’s just a very different thing when you get on track for the first time in Bahrain, depending on weather and conditions and all of those things. So, we have to wait till we go to Bahrain to really understand how they all compare to one another,'' according to Norris. ''There you have the weather and sub-optimal track conditions coming into play,'' said Norris. Piastri was also satisfied after his first minutes in the new car: ''No surprises today. Everything felt pretty comfortable and went smoothly, which was good. You never really know what you've got until you compare it to other people. So, I think we'll have to wait a little bit longer to see what we've really got.''
