Full results F1 testing in Bahrain: Verstappen by far fastest
- Ludo van Denderen
The first day of testing has ended, and there's a familiar sight: Max Verstappen leads the timesheet after eight hours of driving in the Bahrain desert. The Dutchman was by far the fastest, with Lando Norris more than a second behind in second place. Carlos Sainz concluded the day in third.
The opening day of testing was divided into two parts: four hours were completed in the morning, followed by another four hours in the afternoon. Times went down considerably in the afternoon session as the grip on the track increased and temperatures became more favourable. Most of the drivers who drove in the morning did not return to action in the afternoon.
It was, therefore, not a fully representative result, but in terms of teams, it was already clear what we can start to expect. Behind Red Bull Racing, it is again McLaren and Ferrari that appear to be the closest challengers. Haas F1 were at the back.
