Updates new cars known: FIA will check cars in Bahrain

Thursday marks the first session of the new Formula 1 season, which means that the updates that the teams will use to appear. These are logically a lot, as each team has launched a new car. Some cars are still under review by the FIA, for example, Max Verstappen's RB20.

Updates per team per car announced

For each team, the FIA reveals where the changes are compared to the previous year. At Red Bull Racing, for example, the RB20 is different in seven areas, while Mercedes' W15 has changed in six places. The FIA have made drawings of each team. Verstappen and Sergio Perez's, car looks like this:

Each update to the Formula 1 cars is accompanied by the meaning of the update. On Verstappen's car, for example, the entrance to the sidepod has been changed. "For greater efficiency, the inlet shape has been revised to better utilise the available pressure," the description in the document fabricated by the FIA said.

FIA will test cars

The FIA will look at the brand-new cars of Formula 1 teams. The car presentations to the FIA will be between 13:00 and 14:00 local time, which means between 11:00 and 12:00 in central Europe and 10:00 and 11:00 in the UK. Max Verstappen's car will be assessed by the FIA at 13:05 local time.

One from each team must be lined up, and the other must be in the pit box for viewing. "There must be enough space around the entire car on display to allow people to move safely and unhindered – for the avoidance of doubt, this means that any team equipment/infrastructure must not be positioned within 2m of the cars," the FIA said.
