Marko on Red Bull's competition: 'Interesting if Max hadn't been there'
Last season, Red Bull Racing failed to win all races throughout the season as Carlos Sainz ran away with victory at the Singapore Grand Prix. Can Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez have a go at winning every race in a world championship? Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko questions it.
Verstappen won the Bahrain Grand Prix by a wide margin over the runner-up, his teammate Perez. In the first Grand Prix of 2024, Red Bull Racing's rivals were also ahead. Marko explains that a 'clean sweep' is going to be tricky.
Can Red Bull win it all?
"That would be nice, but we have seen that we did not succeed last year. We are far from there and our main goal remains to win both championships. We are doing it step by step," the Austrian told Formel1.de. Marko also looked ahead to the next Grand Prix on the calendar. "Jeddah is a completely different circuit with very fast corners. If we are as dominant there as we were in Bahrain, then we can be optimistic about the future."
The 80-year-old Red Bull man from Graz explained that teams did improve from last year. "One team is slightly better in qualifying, the other team is slightly better in race. One team is better on soft tyre, and the other on hard tyre. If Max had not been there, it would have been an interesting championship."
