Bearman's car number and Hamilton can forget about ending the drought
Oliver Bearman will replace Carlos Sainz at the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix. The Briton will step into the SF-24 from the third free practice session with his own car number. However, he will have to say goodbye to the F2 weekend.
Bearman will step into the SF-24 for the first time in the third free practice session. Bearman did reveal to GPblog.com that he had already been on track in a Ferrari earlier this year. In the 2022 Ferrari, that is. Everything to make the preparation for the move to F1 as smooth as possible.
Which car number will Bearman use for Ferrari?
Bearman is filling in for Sainz, who has appendicitis. Bearman has to make do with exactly the same equipment as the Spaniard. So, no parts can be changed in the car because another driver steps in. The number on the car does change. Sainz normally drives with the number #55 on his car, but Bearman chooses the number #38 for his debut.
Bearman is also the first Briton at Ferrari since Eddie Ervine competed for the Italian team in 1999. In doing so, Bearman breaks the drought instead of Lewis Hamilton who will join the team in 2025. Bearman becomes the 12th Briton ever to drive for Ferrari, after big names like Mike Hawthorn, John Surtees and Nigel Mansell preceded him.
