The saga surrounding Christian Horner has entered a new chapter. Earlier this weekend, it was revealed that the woman who accused the Red Bull Racing team boss of inappropriate behaviour had been suspended. Jos Verstappen tells the Daily Mail that he supports the woman.
Verstappen Sr will not be present at the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix, where his son, Max Verstappen, will start from pole position. The former Formula 1 driver will be in action himself at the Hannut Rally in Belgium.
Still, the father of the three-time world champion has something to say following the news that the woman accusing Horner has been suspended: "I sympathise with the woman, with all that she went through, but we will see what happens."
Verstappen Sr. was also asked if it was time to draw a line under the situation. "I think it's a bit too late for that now. If that's what he [Horner] wants, fine, but I don't think it will be possible. I don't want to talk too much more as it will create problems. But the most important thing for me is that Max is happy, that's what counts for me, I just want him to be happy."

Jos Verstappen is not happy with the current situation with Horner

Jos says he does not know exactly what is happening with the woman now: "But all these things that are going on are having an influence on Max. He was third in the first practice, and all we hear about is Horner and what happened with his situation. In the press conference Horner gave the other day it was all about him and his problems when we should be talking about Max, the car, his performance and the race. I've already said I think it is causing problems if he stays."

Jos "the woman beater" verstappen is defending a woman who has been suspended. There is a reason why she has been that and not horner. Horner stood up for himself not letting snowflakes destroy him.

What the woman was say about horner was being dishonest with her complant with it all so she got suppended for her action .but jv is not part of red bull team what rbr can do is ban him from being in the garage if he keeps on the way he is

Horner will leave when RBR will fail to deliver....

Reading the comments from Jos, it's actually the first time someone in the RB camp is considering what she is going through. The lady is a friend with Jos and Max, and they have insights into the turmoil this entire situation has resulted in. The amount of abuse this lady has been receiving from some Horner fans must be horrendous. She is brave to speak up, and I commend her for holding a powerful individual to account.

Ye well she was dishonest with what she said and jos is seeing the woman .but the press keeps going on about it all .its meant to be f1 not side show.and what rbr dose with it is none of are buissnes its a company matter

"How do you know she was dishonest?

Jos is married, and you need to provide confirmed proof that he is having an affair with the employee.

It's a company matter when a person of power uses his position to influence a personal matter, hence it's fair that the media is reporting on it."

User Avatar
Mavric 09 March 2024 at 14:49+ 19033

The supension was for leaked message and what she said so its being dishonest with it

Was that just a rumour, the suspension i read was due to the leaked messages.

Vegan it's hard to see how an anonymous individual can really get any protection from perceived abuse, but her state of mind has not been helped one bit by the back stabbing individual or crew who leaked details into the public domain.
I have read suggestions on other sites that Jos and the unnamed woman complainant were romantically linked previously, should this turn out to be the case it's not surprising that Jos might have his own agenda and feel he has some right to use her plight in an inter team power struggle.

The power struggle a hostile take over by Honer and supported by the Thai side of RB has muddied the water for sure .

The thai say have more say they own more shears in red bull than the other shear holders with it .and the thai side have last say

User Avatar
Vegan Warrior 09 March 2024 at 14:34+ 4954

Thats true, hence Horner keeping his position, he is backed by the Thai side .

Jos isnt part of Red Bull. He is just a onwatcher attending races with his son. He is not in the Red Bull camp. You keep defending a woman that has been suspended for being dishonest. I guess you can relate from your past relationship. Probably both cut from the same cloth.

Jos isn't part of the Red bull team, and he was happily left with the freedoms of being with the team and support his son, Jos is part of Max's team i believe.

Do you have an official statement that the employee was suspended for being dishonest, if you do please link the confirmation to your responce .

Can this dude just go be a normal Dad and support his kid, why get involved like this or think he has a say about anything dude living in his son's success, at least one thing he can learn from Lewis Dad is to support your son be proud but allow him to do his thing

Did you actually read what he said?

FW14B 09 March 2024 at 12:00+ 0

Max wouldn't have got into F1 were it not for his supportive Dad. Look at all the F1 drivers, and you will see a supportive Dad behind each and every one of them. According to the press, Jos had a relationship with the woman in this saga, and he feels the need to support her.
If you read the leaked messages and think that Horner did nothing wrong, I have to ask, what's it like back in the 1950's?

User Avatar
Vegan Warrior 09 March 2024 at 12:12+ 4954

I read his comments and he is supporting his son, should he support Horner ,and then you would say he supporting his son .

What's the criteria you have for Jos then, please list them.

bringBackTheV12 09 March 2024 at 15:39+ 2912

"he is supporting his son, should he support Horner"

I think the difference is in the interpretation of what "support" means.

"He was third in the first practice, and all we hear about is Horner ..."

I would assert that a statement like the above is not at all a show of "support" for his son. Let's be honest, Max coming in at P3 in FP1 is not earth shattering (esp given his, "it's all good" attitude towards it). It makes him sound like a prima donna since he seems to not be able to put the two situations (Max P3 FP1/Horner scandal) into perspective and that he is pouting because the focus is not on Max. Given the sheer domination of RBR/Max over the last several seasons, and the realization that this season is likely to be more of the same, one should not be surprised that some of the attention will naturally be centered elsewhere. If he were truly an introspective person (and I get that introspection and JV are kinda mutually exclusive) he would understand that his comments simply add fuel to the fire. That said, you almost get the impression that that is what he wants, the house can burn as long as his son is getting the attention.

His son, will be getting the best deal, and maybe leaving Redbull with the Marko clause ,is what will be best for Max . Mercedes would give him a great money multiple year deal.

bringBackTheV12 10 March 2024 at 23:13+ 2912

Interesting thoughts. I wonder however, would Checo truly have won the championship? We saw mistake after mistake just trying to keep up with Max, I wouldn't be surprised if, given the additional pressure of _actually_ having a legit shot at the championship, if he could keep it together. Taking Max out of the equation, I don't think it's necessarily a foregone conclusion that just because he finished #2, that he would have finished #1 in this scenario.

But I do see your point about RBR having the notion that the RB2x with another very good driver is better than Max in a sub par MB. As for "breaking the bank", I think one of the challenges MB would have is that RB has shown that they are more than willing to throw money at a problem if they so desire, so "breaking the bank" would be seriously "BREAKING THE BANK", fascinating stuff.

It's interesting to envision a scenario by which MB lures MV away with a 9 figure salary but then supplies him with a meh car and RBR continues to swallow up championships while MB has to settle for podiums. That would certainly be a lose lose for sure.

I agree, that a renegotiation would.more than likely be on the table.

Would Rebull match what Lewis is getting Ferrari ? .

I mean let's hypothetically say Max wasn't at Redbull, Pérez would have taken the WC the last season and could do the same this and next season. Now that's with Pérez, of they brought in Norris or Sianz, the WC would be a certainly for them as well.

The leverage that Max has may just not be an incentive for Redbull to go all out with a big money deal I believe.

Where as Mercedes would certainly break the bank to get Max in at Mercedes. But thats just my thoughts on the matter.

bringBackTheV12 10 March 2024 at 19:50+ 2912

Actually I agree with you that Max's existing contract is looking like a heck of a bargain. That said, I can't help but feel, all the current RBR craziness aside, that if Vermeulen went to RBR to renegotiate Max's contract, that RBR would be very willing to open up the purse strings. No need to jump ship and deal with all the uncertainties.

User Avatar
Vegan Warrior 10 March 2024 at 08:22+ 4954

Priorities change, especially when you have benchmark contracts that happen around you .

Rebull got Max on the cheap, till 2028, thats just my opinion.

bringBackTheV12 09 March 2024 at 18:12+ 2912

Don't see it. Max has stated in the past that his interest in F1 is very much tied to his ability to continue to win WDC's. Leaving for MB seems to run counter to that goal, unless his goal has now shifted to making bank while he can and then retiring to some other series.

..one thing he can learn from Lewis Dad is to support your son be proud but allow him to do his thing...

A bad example to cite.

If you go back far enough you'll find that Lewis's dad was not so particularly "allowing." He was Lewis's manager, the years when Lewis did not do particularly well.

Well, its obviously logical that he have to stand behind his girlfriend, other wise he might not get 'bedroom privilliages' :)
