'Thai shareholder wants Red Bull GmbH to move to Dubai'

28 March at 09:00

Christian Horner seems to be locked in the saddle at Red Bull Racing. Perhaps even more so than thought. Auto, Motor und Sport reports that news on Thursday morning. The Thai majority shareholder of can giant Red Bull is squarely behind Horner and is now even said to have plans to move the group from Austria to Dubai.

A meeting between Red Bull bosses took place in Dubai after the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix. According to AMuS, Horner's position at the meeting was not weakened - as previously reported by several sources - but rather strengthened.

Horner wants to get a say within Red Bull

Horner would not only attempt to take full control within Red Bull Racing (and sister team Visa Cash App RB) but also want to have a say in the entire Red Bull empire. Chalerm Yoovidhya—the majority shareholder from Thailand—would also like this. Presumably, however, this is only possible if Horner is cleared of inappropriate behaviour in the appeal brought by a female colleague.

Red Bull's Austrian faction, as we know, is fiercely opposed to this and would rather see Horner leave. As is well known, Max Verstappen is on their side, as is Helmut Marko. The three-time world champion has already threatened to leave after next season if key figures leave, something that is not inconceivable given the recent extensive reports about the internal power struggle.

Moving to Dubai?

However, Oliver Mintzlaff and Franz Watzlawick - the bosses of Red Bull Austria - reportedly have even bigger concerns on their minds than seeing Verstappen leave Red Bull Racing. Rumours are circulating that Yoovidhya would like to move the entire Red Bull GmbH, currently based in Salzburg, to Dubai. To be continued no doubt... In any case, the Austrian and Thai ranks seem to be on an absolute collision course with each other.
