'Ricciardo has until the summer to prove himself, otherwise Lawson is in'

Daniel Ricciardo is not performing well at the moment compared to Yuki Tsunoda. His teammate constantly beats him, and points are failing to materialise. The Italian branch of Motorsport.com reports that the team has given the Australian an ultimatum.

Daniel Ricciardo's Formula 1 career has seen peaks and troughs. Following his decision to leave Red Bull Racing after 2018, the Australian moved to Renault. There, he managed one podium. Then at McLaren, apart from the win at Monza, he was actually constantly beaten by his teammate Lando Norris.

After a fairly dramatic two years at McLaren, the 34-year-old found himself without a seat at the end of 2022. It was Red Bull who took their former driver under their wing and gave him a chance as a reserve driver. Eventually, Ricciardo replaced De Vries at AlphaTauri mid-season.

Since then, Ricciardo has been driving for the Visa Cash App RB team. Now, he is being beaten by his current teammate, Yuki Tsunoda. There were earlier rumours that the Australian may have to make way for Liam Lawson as early as midway through this season if his performance fails to improve. Now, the Italian branch of Motorsport.com reports that he has until the summer to prove himself. Otherwise, Lawson may step in.
