Marko anxious about certain circuits: 'Competition might get closer'
Max Verstappen seems unbeatable in 2024, winning four of the five races so far in this Formula 1 season. Still, Red Bull's top consultant Marko thinks the competition could be closer to the Austrian team at certain circuits, he says in his analysis for Speedweek.com.
Is Formula 1 boring because of Verstappen?
"If you see the same driver winning all the time without a fight, it gets boring and that's understandable," said Lando Norris during the Chinese Grand Prix weekend, referring to the dominance of Verstappen and Red Bull Racing. He then stressed that the only races that were enjoyable were when the Red Bull driver could not finish the race.
Whether Formula 1 races are boring or not, Verstappen's current dominance means there is no longer any fight in the championship. However, Red Bull team boss Christian Horner has said that dominant periods always come to an end.
Trickier circuits for Red Bull
Marko thinks the competition can already take their chance this season to possibly win a race: "Racetracks where the opponents could get a little closer to us are Miami or Monaco, especially since the competition has gotten closer, especially in the qualifying trim. I can imagine that it won't be easy to be in pole position there."
