Perez relaxed after Newey leaves: 'There is a massive team around him'
- GPblog.com
Red Bull has lost a key member of their team, as it was announced that star designer Adrian Newey would depart the champions at the end of this year. The chief technical officer has been an important part of the team. Despite that, Sergio Perez doesn't seem too worried about Newey's departure.
So why did Adrian Newey leave Red Bull? The Brit is seen by many as the brains behind the current RB20. There are now many rumours around the paddock that he will work for another team. The team most often mentioned is Ferrari, but Aston Martin is also rumoured to be very interested in the legendary designer.
Perez does not fear Newey's departure
Perez's take on Newey's departure: "Well, he's obviously a key part of our organisation and there were some talks of it (Newey leaving). Obviously, once it gets public, it's much more (known) that there have been some talks of it."
Perez continued: "I think also Christian and the whole team have been preparing for it one day. I mean, you're going to lose any single individual, you know. It's a big organisation and he's a key player in our organisation, (but) there is a massive team around him as well."
Newey's departure is, of course, huge. The paddock will soon see how important the Brit truly was to the Red Bull team.
