Red Bull had a bad Friday at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. Max Verstappen finished seventh in FP2, with teammate Sergio Perez just behind him in eighth. Are the upgrades working to plan? Red Bull's technical director, Pierre Wache, spoke about the reigning champions upgrades earlier in the day. The Frenchman also touched on Sergio Perez's current Red Bull situation, as many are wondering whether or not the Mexican will be in the Red Bull seat in 2025.

In the press conference, Wache was asked whether or not Red Bull's upgrades would make an obvious difference this weekend: "I think the visibility of the upgrade is maybe not as apparent from outside, but I think it's something interesting for us. And what we put on the car now, we develop the car, it will depend on our tools, response of the performance. And we will decide not to make it apparent first, but to make performance on the car. That's how we work. And the plan is not fully defined. It's mainly dependent on what we found."

Wache content with Perez

The technical director was also asked about Sergio Perez, who will be out of contract at the end of 2024. "It's not on my side to say that. He is clearly at the moment doing a fantastic job. He is very close, in Suzuka, he was very close in qualifying. For the future is not mine, at the moment I have not complained about that aspect."

Wache will be hoping that Red Bull can find some pace for the rest of the weekend after struggling on Friday.
