Alex Albon was penalised with a stop-and-go penalty by the
FIA at the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix. The stewards considered that
Williams sent their
Formula 1 car onto the track in an unsafe condition.
After a pit stop, the
Williams driver had to re-enter because his right front tyre was loose. The stewards reviewed footage and saw that it was clear the tyre was loose, after which the
F1 team allowed Albon to drive off anyway. According to the regulations, the
FIA therefore had no choice but to impose a severe sanction: a stop-and-go penalty. This required Albon to stop with his team, stand still for 10 seconds and drive off again without being allowed to change tyres.
