Carlos Sainz was saved by the bell (or in F1's case, the red flag) on Lap 1, and managed to eventually step on the podium at the Monaco Grand Prix. This weekend, Ferrari collected the most points, but the Spaniard believes Red Bull are still the favourites on most tracks in the future.

Sainz believes Red Bull Racing are still the team to beat in the sport. "A Barcelona or any European track that I consider a normal track, I still think Red Bull will be favourites. But I don't think they'll dominate like they used to do, and I think that's good news for the championship," he declared following the Monaco Grand Prix, where Ferrari finished in P1 and P3 with their cars, while only Max Verstappen scored 8 points for Red Bull Racing.

"I think we will have opportunities in these sorts of tracks. I think McLaren will have their opportunities. When I say talk about a normal track, we can talk about maybe a Barcelona. Canada, I think, is quite specific," Sainz pointed out where Ferrari and McLaren could have more pace than Red Bull.

However, even if the Austrian team are the favourites, the Ferrari driver is happy that they could put some pressure on their rivals. "It's just worth being within a tenth or two. I think it's worth it. Even if they're favourites, they cannot afford to make any mistakes. And that's where both Ferrari and McLaren, we can capitalise, which is a position that in Bahrain Race 1, no one was there to be there," Sainz concluded.
