Ferrari finally seems to be able to take the fight to Red Bull Racing. In Monaco, Charles Leclerc managed to win another race after a drought of almost two years. There may be more to come in the future, as the Spanish branch of Motorsport.com reports that Ferrari is considering copying Red Bull's suspension.

Whereas Ferrari started the new regulations well in 2022 by winning two of the first three races, things went downhill after that. Red Bull was so fast that the other teams were all unable to compete for wins, let alone the world title.

Recent race weekends have shown that Red Bull winning is now not so obvious. In Miami, Lando Norris won and in Monaco, Leclerc thus won. As a result, the real dominant phase seems to be over. Big upgrade packages are coming later in the season, and so, it will be interesting to see how things stand by then.

Ferrari starts to understand 'key aspects'

But Ferrari is looking beyond that. The Scuderia are reportedly looking at options to replicate Red Bull's front suspension. Currently, the Italian racing stable, along with Haas, which uses Ferrari parts, is the only one running a push-rod suspension. Ferrari is now said to have concluded that it would be best to switch to a pull-rod suspension after all.

Ferrari's designers are said to be starting to understand some "key aspects" in order to definitively compete with Red Bull and McLaren. Development on the car should be finished by 2026, as the concept is not expected to be understood immediately.

The changes to the front suspension should offer aerodynamic benefits in the airflow at the front of the car and the airflows entering the Venturi tunnels. However, more work awaits Ferrari if they actually want to implement these changes. After all, a completely new chassis is also needed.
