Official: Perez extends his contract at Red Bull Racing

Sergio Perez will remain at Red Bull Racing. The Austrian racing stable has officially announced that Perez will continue to be in action for the team in 2025.

Perez had a contract until 2024 at Red Bull Racing. The Mexican started at Red Bull in 2021 with a two-year deal. Perez signed a new deal in early 2022, just before his victory in Monaco. At that point, Perez signed a contract committing him to Red Bull Racing until 2024.

Why did Red Bull chose Perez

In 2023 and 2024, Perez did not always convince. The 34-year-old driver started 2023 very strongly, but after expressing title aspirations, he was driven around the ears by Max Verstappen week after week. Red Bull therefore looked at alternatives for 2025, but eventually ended up back with Perez.

For Perez, it means his fifth season at Red Bull Racing and his 15th season in Formula 1. What kind of deal is involved has not been revealed. Perez will at least be in action for Red Bull Racing in 2026 with a two-year deal.

Perez's news follows the clarity surrounding Max Verstappen. The Dutchman already had a deal until 2028, but also seemed to be sensitive to Mercedes' advances due to the unrest behind the scenes at Red Bull Racing. However, GPblog was already able to report that Verstappen has also decided to 'just' stay with Red Bull in 2025, meaning the team has secured the services of Verstappen and Perez.
