Lance Stroll has been driving for the Aston Martin team since 2021, after the team was rebranded from Racing Point. However, the Canadian, whose father, incidentally, is the team's CEO, has yet to make a mark. Is it the car, is it the driver? In any case, team principal Mike Krack has full confidence in Stroll.

On Friday in Montreal, Stroll managed to finish 17th and third in FP1 and FP2 respectively. Quite a big difference on a Friday, which incidentally fell into the water due to heavy rain. Fickle is the sort of thing that happens often at Aston Martin. Last year they were third in the constructors' championship at this point, currently they are only in fifth place with over 100 points less.

Nevertheless, Lance Stroll is confident about the Aston Martin project. He has told team boss Mike Krack as much, the Luxembourger revealing when asked if Stroll foresees a future for himself with the team: "He has communicated the same to me. We are in good exchange for the situation. We know that Aston Martin is Lance’s home. He prefers to concentrate on the Montreal Grand Prix here. There's already enough going on and I think soon we will have to communicate."

Lance Stroll currently has 11 points, also sitting the 11th place in the drivers' championship. Teammate Fernando Alonso has three times as many points and accounts for 75% of the team's entire points tally. For now, there seems to be pretty little left of the team as we saw them in 2023. The result of FP2 is hopeful for the team, although it remains to be seen whether that will carry over to qualifying.
