Ricciardo discouraged by Perez's contract? 'I don't see myself elsewhere'
Since returning to Formula One, Daniel Ricciardo has made it very clear: he wishes to get back into the Red Bull seat. However, with the team re-signing Sergio Perez, that was no longer possible. In Canada, Visa Cash App RB also announced Yuki Tsunoda's extension. For Ricciardo, he must prove himself to remain within the Red Bull family, which he hopes to do so.
Where will Ricciardo drive in 2025?
The Australian has made his intentions clear again - he is not looking to leave the Red Bull family. Speaking ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix this weekend, Ricciardo offered an update on his contract negotiations: "Canada obviously helped. I needed a result like that. Obviously, I would like to stay. Now that I'm back in that Red Bull family, I really don't see myself anywhere else, so that's where I'd love to stay and continue," the VCARB driver confirmed.
At the start of this season, Ricciardo struggled and was often out-performed by his teammate. In Canada, he had somewhat of a u-turn, finishing ahead of Tsunoda across the weekend. If he wishes to keep his seat for next season, he must also compete with reserve driver Liam Lawson, who is also looking for a seat at the F1 team in 2025. "I obviously want to earn it. I don't just want to stay another year [because it’s easy]. I obviously want to be here because I know that I still belong here and can do performances like I did last week. So, it's also up to me just to make sure that I can keep pulling it out, and in that case, then I'll be very happy to stay," the Australian concluded.
