During the winter break, Lewis Hamilton managed to turn the whole F1 world upside down by announcing his transfer to Ferrari. Last year, the Mercedes performed dramatically. This year, the Brackley-based team is in much better shape. Would Hamilton still have made the same choice? He answered at Silverstone.

After many years with the Mercedes team and a host of championships, Hamilton announced in February that he will make the switch to Ferrari from 2025. Although the link between the Brit and the Italian team had been made many times before, not many people actually saw it happening.

In 2023, Hamilton was quite unhappy with his Mercedes. He frequently complained of problems and lack of speed. This season seems to be a lot better, with the team bringing working updates and now fighting at the front of the field more often.

Would Hamilton still leave for Ferrari?

After qualifying for the British Grand Prix, the seven-time world champion was asked whether he would still have made the switch to Ferrari if he had today's car last year. To that, Hamilton was quite clear: 'Yes', he replied. The Briton will start Sunday's race from second place.
