F1 Today | Where could Adrian Newey end up, McLaren now the fastest?
After unveiling the RB17, Adrian Newey drove Niki Lauda's Ferrari at the Goodwood. Where could the master designer end up is still unknown, but together with an exclusive Daniel Ricciardo article published today, GPblog listed you the possible destinations. In terms of McLaren, Andrea Stella also reacted to whether McLaren are the fastest team on the grid as of now, or not.
What are Newey's plans?
At the Goodwood Festival of Speed yesterday, Adrian Newey had the chance to unveil the RB17. Today then, the British master designer drove on the track in Niki Lauda's championship-winning 1974 Ferrari. Sitting still in the car, Newey explained how it felt to drive the Ferrari felt. The future of the Briton is still one of the biggest questions in the world of Formula One. Will Aston Martin, Ferrari, or Williams be his final decision? Red Bull News
Within Red Bull Racing, GPblog also published an exclusive interview with Daniel Ricciardo. The Australian driver talked about the Red Bull family, and the culture within the team. There is however, one driver, who could leave if he does not comply with his clause. Former F1 driver Roberto Doornbos recommends Red Bull to let Sergio Perez go.
The Hungarian Grand Prix is the upcoming weekend in the F1 calendar, after a break this weekend. Team advisor Helmut Marko remained cautious ahead of the weekend in Budapest: "It won't be that easy. We didn't have the fastest car in Silverstone. We have one problem if not several," he told OE24. While the Austrian thinks Mercedes struggle in the heat, he also praised Lewis Hamilton after the Briton's victory at Silverstone.
McLaren now the fastest car on the grid?
Back at Silverstone, Andrea Stella commented on the thesis that McLaren currently have the fastest car on the grid. The Italian team principal answered: "Not necessarily we are the fastest car because in the first stint, when things were pretty regular, Mercedes, they were going."
