Tsunoda gets grid penalty for Belgian Grand Prix
26 July at 12:48

Yuki Tsunoda will have to start the Belgian Grand Prix from the back. Following initial reporting from Motorsport.com, Visa Cash App RB has confirmed to GPblog.com that the Japanese driver will start this race weekend with new engine parts.

Visa Cash App RB has confirmed that Yuki Tsunoda will start the race from the back of the grid. For the Japanese driver, it was a matter of time anyway before this would happen. In all engine parts, Tsunoda was already on the limit and so if a new part was introduced, he would receive an immediate penalty. So that is what the team chose to do in Belgium.

Tsunoda is not the only driver with a Honda engine starting from the back, Max Verstappen also starts from behind in Belgium. Although Red Bull Racing has not yet officially announced that the Dutchman will drive with new engine parts at Spa, GPblog.com previously reported that Verstappen will face a grid penalty. Verstappen himself confirmed on Thursday that that chance was very high.
