Brundle argues Verstappen is making Red Bull strategists nervous

Martin Brundle suspects Max Verstappen is lowering Red Bull Racing's performance by swearing on the radio. The former F1 driver argues that Verstappen would be better off doing this behind closed doors.

"The problem is, if you rinse your pit wall and your strategies to the tens or hundreds of millions of people listening around the world, they’re human beings, and they will react next time by taking a safe decision because they don't want to try an outlier or try something a little bit quirky that's won than many races and championships before," Brundle told Sky Sports.

Criticism of Verstappen

"They'll just end up going safe and secure if they're nervous that they're going to get called out on the pit wall. It's not about Max, it's about everybody. It's better to shut the door and tear pieces out of everybody, come out and go, everything's fine," Brundle said.

Verstappen himself felt on Thursday that there was little to worry about. According to the Dutchman, people who don't like his team radio should listen to something else. Yet F1 has made it clear to team bosses that there should be less swearing because everything is broadcast these days. Lewis Hamilton was also critical of Verstappen. According to the Briton, Verstappen was not behaving like a world champion.
