Red Bull has made a decision on Perez: This is the outcome
- Ludo van Denderen
Red Bull Racing has settled a dispute over whether or not Sergio Perez will stay. GPblog has learned that Perez will remain at Red Bull and finish the 2024 Formula 1 season.
GPblog has learned that Christian Horner informed Red Bull Racing staff of the decision on Monday evening and said: "Checo remains a Red Bull Racing driver despite recent speculation and we look forward to seeing him perform at tracks he has previously excelled at after the summer break."
Perez's speculation is over
It was no secret that the team's management would sit down this Monday to discuss the future of the troubled Perez. In recent months, he has hardly been convincing, which is putting the constructors' championship in jeopardy. After the last Grand Prix in Belgium, external advisor Helmut Marko was particularly critical of the Mexican's performance, which led to the suspicion that the collaboration was coming to an end. But Horner and Marko have apparently decided that Perez can stay after all.
Perez has a contract for 2025, with a team option for the following season. Despite all the speculation, Perez himself has always maintained that his seat at Red Bull was assured.
