For months, the Monza circuit was closed due to renovations that were as extensive as they were necessary. A few weeks before Formula 1 makes its reappearance at the Temple of Speed, the work has been completed and the historic circuit is again ready for use.

Work started in January this year. Since then, work has been carried out on a new layer of asphalt on the track and in the pit lane. The spectator passages have also been improved in several places. In the past, considerable congestion could occur there. Moreover, a cover has also been added at the Vedano grandstand.

Monza hopes for a new contract with Formula 1

The Monza circuit is not yet in contact with Formula 1 about the tracks contract beyond 2025. Stefano Domenicali, Formula 1's CEO, hinted in the past that a new contact would depend on some modernisations to the severely outdated track. With the work completed, that requirement has already been partly met.

Work will continue after the upcoming Grand Prix at the Italian circuit to create even more comfort for the Tifosi. It is still unknown if and when FOM and the circuit will announce a new deal for after '25.
