Jordan reveals Newey agreement: 'An agreement with Red Bull on that'
- Ludo van Denderen
For months now, it has been one of the hot topics in Formula 1: Where will Adrian Newey continue his career? In recent weeks, it seems that the master designer will start work at wealthy Aston Martin, where owner Lawrence Stroll has promised him a princely salary. Eddie Jordan, Newey's manager, in his own podcast Formula for Success, would not confirm this. But he was able to reveal something else.
Although Newey has distanced himself reasonably from Red Bull's F1 activities, the Brit is still busy with everything surrounding the RB17 - the superfast sports car he developed. Furthermore, Jordan explained, the Brit is currently enjoying the summer; something he has not been able to do since his student days due to his busy work. In the meantime, he is also thinking about his future, which is thus rumoured to be with Aston Martin.
Jordan mostly keeps tight-lipped
Not for the first time, Jordan said: "The reality is that he will be given the time to make his decision and when there's something to say, he will say it. And if he doesn't say it, I'll say it, but I think it will be him. It's always going to be his decision, and you know that," the Irishman said of his friend Newey.
Jordan could reveal, however, that there are agreements with Red Bull Racing about when news from Newey may be revealed: "There are agreements are made to be put in place, to be honoured, and that is there was an agreement with Red Bull, as regards releasing of any future ideas that we may be doing. So that will be adhered to and it will be respected 100%."
