Possible disqualification for Albon after breaking technical regulations
- Cas van de Kleut
Alexander Albon had a great qualifying, but there's a chance Williams' day might get worse. This is because the car did not comply with the technical regulations. This normally results in disqualification.
Williams also had bad luck during FP3 on Saturday afternoon. Logan Sargeant crashed his car badly, which couldn't be repaired. As this repair failed in time for qualifying, the American had to miss out. So, only one Williams came into action during qualifying.
Albon then recorded the eighth fastest time. In doing so, he beat Carlos Sainz and Lewis Hamilton, among others, who normally compete for higher positions. Since it is also difficult to overtake at Zandvoort, it seemed that the Thai would have a chance to end up in the points.
Possible disqualification for Albon
However, there is also a chance that Albon will have to start from the back. His car was examined after qualifying and the floor body was found to lie outside the regulatory volume. The details will be forwarded to the stewards. They will assess what will happen to Albon.
