Vasseur disagrees with Alonso: 'Won't be easy'
Following the Dutch Grand Prix last weekend, Formula One are on their way to Monza for the Italian GP. Former Ferrari driver, Fernando Alonso has declared last in Zandvoort that Ferrari will be the team to beat in Monza and in Baku. Team principal Frederic Vasseur reacted to the Spaniard's statements to GPblog among others in Zandvoort.
"If he's trying to put pressure, he has to be sure that I won't read the Twitter [now called X] of Fernando Alonso, I don’t have Twitter!" Vasseur began about what the two-time world champion said about his team's chances during the upcoming two Grands Prix in Monza and in Baku.
Vasseur continued: "But I don't need to have someone telling me whether we are the favourites or not. We will have exactly the same approach in any case. I hope that we will be in better shape in the next two or three events. We were in much better shape last year on this track. I think that, again, it's a matter of details."
'Monza better than Zandvoort'
According to the Frenchman, the layout of the track favours his team more. "The fact that we are in better shape on the short corners and so will help us. And if you are able to do a step of one or two tenths, it's again a matter of details."
However, the Ferrari team principal also underlined the enormous gap Lando Norris had at the Dutch GP. "We know also that everybody is improving. We know also that today we had still a big gap with Lando and that we were quite far away. It means that we have a lot of work to do. And I will never go to Monza, Baku or whatever with the feeling that it will be an easy one."
