Daughter of Kelly Piquet consoles Max Verstappen after dramatic qualifying session
- Sandy van Wijngaarden
Max Verstappen had a poor qualifying session and has to start Sunday's race from seventh place. Luckily for him, his girlfriend, Kelly Piquet, is present in Monza with her daughter, Penelope.
During the first two parts of qualifying, the Red Bull was cooperative and Verstappen was still able to set reasonably good times. Only in Q3 did he lose a lot of grip and his car no longer did what he wanted. So this ultimately resulted in seventh place, while his title rival, Lando Norris, gets to start from pole position.
One stroke of luck for the Dutchman is that his mainstay is present at the Monza circuit. Kelly Piquet and her daughter Penelope are in the paddock to support Verstappen. After qualifying, the Brazilian shared pictures on her Instagram of 'P' giving the three-time world champion a hug after his poor result.
