The tension in the Formula 1 World Championship seems likely to increase between now and the end of the season. Lewis Hamilton has commented on the excitement levels as McLaren look set to take on Red Bull in both World Championships.

Eight races remain in the Formula 1 World Championship, including the Azerbaijan Grand Prix this weekend. The gap between Norris and Max Verstappen has reduced in the recent race weekends, and the Austrian team no longer have a big margin in the constructors' championship either. Hamilton likes that it is exciting in Formula 1.

"It's amazing, this is how it should be. I think this is ultimately the goal when they set the rules, but it never works out that way. It's great that it's finally in that phase with McLaren who have had a great rise out of nowhere. You see the Ferrari win in the last race, and us before that," the seven-time world champion told several media outlets including GPblog.

"Hopefully you'll see something more like that, and it stays consistent for them for I hope for a long time," said Hamilton, who won at Spa-Francorchamps and Silverstone this season in his Mercedes.
