According to top advisor Helmut Marko, the constructors' championship is already out of question for Red Bull. After the Azerbaijan GP, the Austrians were overtaken in the standings by McLaren. Marko now hopes for winning the drivers' title with Max Verstappen.

Due to Sergio Perez's crash with Carlos Sainz in Baku as the duo were fighting for a place on the podium, McLaren now leads the constructors' championship by 20 points. Speaking to Sky Sports DE, Helmut Marko openly stated that this title is now not a real possibility for the Austrian team.

Marko has more hopes for the F1 drivers' title

In terms of the drivers' championship, there is more hope according to the advisor. "The positive thing is that Piastri is very close to Lando. There won't be clarity any time soon because of the papaya rules," Marko said.

Both ahead and after the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, McLaren team principal Andrea Stella declared his team will be biased towards Lando Norris. The Briton's gap to Verstappen currently stands at 59 points, with seven Grand Prix weekends to go in 2024.
