Marko hints at final decision about VCARB seat: 'We have an idea already'
There are two teams on the Formula One grid with a seat available for the 2025 season, VCARB and Stake F1. It seems like the final decision is close to be made at the Faenza-based team, as Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko hinted at making the announcement around the Singapore GP. Will Liam Lawson or Daniel Ricciardo become Yuki Tsunoda's teammate the upcoming year.
Ricciardo or Lawson to be in F1 in 2025?
Tsunoda's contract extension was announced earlier this year, but it is not yet clear who will be the Japanese driver's teammate next year. What is clear, however, is that a decision on Lawson's future will be made in September, Marko said earlier. The Red Bull advisor now once again hinted at when we can expect the announcement.
"We have an idea," Marko answered to Viaplay when VCARB's driver line-up for next year. "Just wait until Singapore. It's still September and then we'll have a clear picture. It will become clear there what will happen," he added when talking about the remaining seat at Red Bull's junior team.
Marko previously confirmed that Lawson will drive one of Red Bull's cars next year anyway - but it was not clarified whether he would drive for VCARB, or for Red Bull. However, Red Bull have recently expressed their confidence in Sergio Perez, therefore, joining VCARB first seems to be the most possible option for Lawson. Last year, the driver for New Zealand already competed for the Faenza-based team after Daniel Ricciardo injured his hand in Zandvoort.
