Uncertainty has arisen over whether and when Stefano Domenicali will sign a new contract as Formula 1 CEO. The Italian was expected to renew his commitment last summer, but that has failed to materialise. His deal is set to have one year remaining.

According to The Daily Mail, Domenicali's supporters believe that nothing is wrong and that the former Ferrari boss in F1 is sorting the negotiations in his own time and is in control of his own future. However, the British newspaper has also heard rumours that Greg Maffei, the big boss of Liberty Media (owner of Formula One's commercial rights), is seriously considering a change of guard at Formula One Management.

Horner and Wolff in the picture?

Recently, chief legal officer Sacha Woodward Hill left after 30 years of service and possibly Domenicali will follow. A source told The Daily Mail: "The Americans might be doing a bit of a clear-out. I think Greg wants to run the whole thing," with the result that Domenicali would also have to step down.

The British newspaper is already speculating who might succeed Domenicali. Christian Horner, Red Bull Racing's team boss, and Toto Wolff, the Mercedes boss, are mentioned along with McLaren's boss Zak Brown. So, will another heated battle take place? This time not on the track, but for the most important, managerial position in Formula 1?
