Lando Norris on mental health issues on world mental health day

Norris tells people to "talk" about their mental health

Lando Norris took to social media to talk to his many followers, telling them to "talk" about their mental health as he celebrated World Mental Health Day on Thursday. On a day to reflect on mental health and its issues around the world, something that Norris himself has suffered from in his time in Formula 1, he sat down to address the millions of people who follow him.

The 24-year-old has previously fought hard to address the stigma that surrounds mental health issues, with the Brit being open about the fact that it is normal not to feel good all the time, and also coming out and talking about the struggles he has faced.

When Norris was just entering Formula 1, he had to learn to deal with the amount of criticism that constantly came his way. The support from his team, McLaren, and working with Mind, a mental health charity, have helped him through these difficult periods, and he continues to advocate support towards challenging that stigma, as well as wanting people to talk about their mental health issues, and not to bottle them up.

Norris addresses followers on World Mental Health Day

On Instagram, Norris addressed his followers on this special day. “I hope everyone is doing well. And if you are not, there is no reason you shouldn’t be. I am sure that everyone has reasons around the world for struggles and difficulties and things like that, no matter what position they are in. Some are harder, some are easier than others. I just want to send all my love and wish everyone the best.”

“It may not always seem like the easiest way to do, but there are always people around you that are happy to listen and talk. Trust me, the second you talk and have a conversation, you will feel better. It’s just crossing that line of doing it in the first place," continued Norris, urging his fans to talk to people.
