Did Verstappen continue his protest at the FIA press conference in Austin?
Max Verstappen won the sprint race in Austin and, therefore, returned to an FIA press conference for the first time since holding a protest during the Singapore Grand Prix weekend. The Dutchman was talkative again, and generated laughter from those listening in.
"I'm happy. It's been a long few races where it was more like just looking behind, never really being able to attack. Now, I could push a bit harder. So very happy with today. Looking at the whole race, I think Ferrari was also very quick. But for us this was already much better," Verstappen said.
Did Verstappen continue his protest at the FIA press conference in Austin?
In Singapore, Verstappen wasn't very talkative in the press conferences after he was given a penalty for swearing. But the Dutchman returned to normal in Austin with long answers. He expressed how his car improved. "It just feels a bit more together and I think that's what we've been lacking. Over one lap you can mask a lot of issues but then of course in the race you need a balanced car which was a bit of a struggle for us the last few races and now today it was definitely a lot better."
The journalists in the room noted the detailed answers. After the punishment Verstappen had received from the FIA for calling his car 'f***ed', Max stated that he would not say anything more in press conferences. Asked if his ample answers were a sign that he had made up with the FIA, Verstappen laughed: "No, I'm just a good person".
