F1 Drivers World Championship standings after United States Grand Prix

Max Verstappen has extended his lead in the World Championship after the United States Grand Prix. Lando Norris must now bridge a gap of 57 points between now and Abu Dhabi to become World Champion for the first time. There are five Grands Prix and two sprint races left.

Charles Leclerc immediately took the lead at the start. Verstappen was then in second place. Carlos Sainz eventually overtook him through an undercut. Norris was behind Verstappen for a long time but overtook him just before the end. But the stewards gave him a five-second penalty because he made the move beyond the white lines.

This caused Verstappen to finish on P3 and Norris on P4. The Dutchman gained three points on Norris here. On Saturday in the sprint race, Verstappen gained two points. In total, Verstappen extended his lead by five points.
