Fernando Alonso will not be at the paddock in Mexico on Thursday. Aston Martin report that the driver is ill and is fully focused on recovery ahead of jumping in his car at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodríguez on Friday.

Ahead of his 400th Grand Prix in the competition, Fernando Alonso will not be in the paddock during the media day. "Fernando Alonso is feeling unwell and will therefore not attend media day at the Mexico City Grand Prix. Fernando is focused on feeling 100% for Friday and his planned return to the AMR24 for Free Practice 2," Aston Martin's statement reads.

During FP1 at the Mexican Grand Prix, Felipe Drugovich is set to driver Alonso's car, therefore, the Spaniard has more time to recover for FP2. That session is also less relevant this weekend, given a Pirelli tyre test will take place. On Friday afternoon, the complete hour and a half of the session will be run on tyres for the 2025 season.

For Felipe Drugovich it is not the first time that he is in action for the British team. The Brazilian also drove the in FP1 during the Italian and Abu Dhabi Grands Prix in 2023. In 2024, Drugovich is yet not drive in an official session for Aston Martin.
