Tsunoda shares funny childhood story: 'Poo came through my racing suit!'
The life of a driver is not always easy. After all, just like 'normal people', you have your daily needs, both big and small. Then, when you're all dressed up in your racing outfit and overalls, it presents some challenges, which can then lead to things sometimes going wrong. Yuki Tsunoda has literal experience first-hand.
Tsunoda's unfortunate childhood 'accident'
Thinking back to his childhood years in racing, the Japanese-born Visa Cash App RB driver can recall an incident where going to the toilet did not go as it usually should. In the Red Flags podcast, Tsunoda explains: "I think I was about five years old. As a driver, when you have to poop, you take the top of your racing suit off. And as roll it down, you have the suit around your knees."
"I couldn't do properly back then. I didn't do it perfectly well. But then, I had to poop once, and then I got up from the toilet, and when I tried to do my suit up, I could smell it from behind me. So I thought, 'What's going on?' Then I looked in the mirror and saw a big stain behind me. Actually, I didn't roll the suit down enough, so it meant that it went through the edge of the suit. That was not a good time," Tsunoda explains, laughing back at the memory.
Of course, the logical follow-up question was to ask what happened next. Tsunoda had to dig deep into his memory to figure out when the incident occurred, before or after a race. "I think it was before a race. I think it was. And I won, with a big lead," he concluded full of laughter.
