Jos Verstappen criticises F1's 24 race calendar: 'It takes away the fun'

The 2024 Formula 1 season will be the longest season in the history of the sport. There are now 24 races on the calendar. With just three races to go, Max Verstappen can secure his fourth world title at this weekend's race in Las Vegas. His father, Jos Verstappen, shared his thoughts on Verstappen.com about the Formula 1 calendar, which is longer than ever.
The 2025 season once again features 24 races. The season starts in mid-March with the Australian Grand Prix and ends, as usual, in Abu Dhabi on the weekend of December 7. Jos Verstappen notices that the battery among the drivers, including his son Max, is gradually starting to run out.
Jos Verstappen on the 'out of hand' calendar:
"I do notice that the number of races in Formula 1 is getting a bit out of hand for several drivers. The same goes for Max. He has always been very outspoken about that. I think at some point it does take away the fun a bit," the 52-year-old former F1 driver said.
"Before, when I started, there were about 16 or 17 races. Now there are 24 and you notice it in everything and everyone, including mechanics, that they are always on the road. Max is obviously away even more because he also has to drive in the simulator in between and he also has sponsorship obligations, then you know how often he is away from home," Verstappen Sr concluded.
