Sergio Perez was eliminated in the first part of qualifying in Las Vegas. The Red Bull driver will start from 16th on the grid in the 'Sin City'. This comes as a massive blow to the team as they hope to close the gap on Ferrari and McLaren in the Constructors' Championship.

Perez seemed to be struggling all weekend. In all free practice sessions, the Mexican was far behind Max Verstappen. In qualifying, his struggles came to the fore once again.

Perez is out again in Q1

The Mexican finished in P16, while Verstappen finished P3 in Q1. The difference between the two teammates was around eight-tenths and Perez finished behind both Visa Cash App drivers. Both Perez and Verstappen had a new set of soft tyres in Q1. The Mexican was still on the podium in Las Vegas last year.
