Piastri slapped with a five second penalty for a mistake in Las Vegas GP
Oscar Piastri has been handed a five-second penalty because the stewards saw the McLaren driver have an incorrect starting position. The Australian will serve the penalty during his first pitstop in the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
The stewards found that Piastri was in the incorrect starting position. He had started too far forward. Sergio Perez had a similar penalty during the Mexican Grand Prix a few weeks ago.
It is perhaps costly for McLaren. They currently lead the Constructors' Championship, but Ferrari and Red Bull are breathing down their necks with just three Grands Prix and one sprint race remaining.
