Zhou Guanyu revealed details behind his F1 future after the race in Las Vegas, including Ferrari's interest in him. The Sauber driver will leave the team at the end of the 2024 season after a relatively mediocre three-season spell at the Swiss squad. It's unlikely that Zhou will be appearing on the grid in 2025, but he is looking to get himself involved in another role in order to stay in and around the sport for now.

Zhou and Sauber are yet to score a point this season, with one of their only highlights of the year being a sprint qualifying 3 appearance in Zhou's home Grand Prix in China. Sauber, who is soon to become Audi in 2026, is going for an all-changed lineup to begin their era. Nico Hulkenberg and F2 championship leader Gabriel Bortoleto have secured both seats, meaning that Zhou's teammate, Valtteri Bottas, is also without a seat for 2025. After finishing in a positive 13th place in Las Vegas, Zhou spoke to the media in the paddock, including GPblog, about his future prospects.

Zhou confirms Ferrari's interest:

"We are talking to several teams, and Ferrari remains one of the teams really interested in me. We need to see. Obviously, there are a lot of things coming up with the next few weekends for us to make a decision. But we are going through all the options we have and then to see where we are. From my side, I don't want to commit to the future just yet because I need to make sure everything is set down and it's clear. I have a massive commitment to the next project. So hopefully something will be happening or decided soon," the Chinese driver revealed. Former Ferrari Academy driver Zhou was rumoured to have been in contact with his old team for a reserve or simulator role.

Nothing has been announced yet, but Zhou is certain that his decision and announcement will have been made in the next few weeks. "I think it will be somewhere around the next few weeks. I'll have a clear idea. But what I announce, I don't know. At the moment, I haven't signed anything. You need to find the right time. Nothing has been fully into these details right now, but we're working on it, and we'll see what's the future." He concluded.
