Official: Cadillac name first-ever team principal for their F1 team!
Cadillac, the team recently announced to enter Formula 1 as the 11th team for the 2026 season, have announced their team principal. Briton Graeme Lowdon was announced to become the team's first team principal in the competition.
"TWG Global and General Motors (GM) today announced that veteran motorsports and Formula 1 team executive Graeme Lowdon will serve as Team Principal of the Cadillac team as it moves towards being on the grid to compete in the FIA Formula One World Championship in 2026," the team's report writes.
"I’m truly honored to be appointed as the Team Principal of this exciting new team and I would like to thank everyone involved for placing their trust in me. I believe that Formula 1 is the greatest team sport in the world, and teams are all about people. This is a team with a real love for, and desire to go, racing, and we have the experience and expertise to do just that. Racing is at the very heart of everything that we do. This is what I want to see in a team, and I really want to be part of it. I don’t underestimate the task ahead and I have the utmost respect for the competition. I look forward to the challenge of racing. In the meantime, our work continues at pace," Lowdon commented on his appointment.
The Briton has experience in building a team to be ready for the competition, previously helping Manor (bought out by Virgin Racing) and then becaming the CEO of the team. He resigned from his role in 2015. He later returned to Manor Motorsport to oversee their WEC programme. Since 2023 preparing an F1 bid for TWG Global, he led the team of to work on aerodynamics, chassis and component development, software and vehicle dynamics simulation as well. He is also Kick Sauber driver Guanyu Zhou's manager.
