2025 is here! Everything to look forward to until F1 returns
The 2024 season is over. All 24 Grands Prix weekends have been completed, with Max Verstappen as the drivers', and McLaren as the constructors' champions. Until the first GP of the 2025 season, there will be still some events to pay attention to in the competition. GPblog lists you the milestones in 2024 post-season and 2025 pre-season.
The off-season and line-ups completed
Immediately after the Abu Dhabi GP, on the following Tuesday, the Pirelli Tyre Test and the Young Driver Test was hosted. There, Carlos Sainz (Williams), Nico Hulkenberg (Sauber) and Esteban Ocon (Haas) could already test for the teams. Additionally, rookies Andrea Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes) and Gabriel Bortoleto (Sauber) could dress up for the first F1 teams as well.
The line-ups have also been completed, after Red Bull shared their decision. Sergio Perez was let go, and will be replaced by Liam Lawson. As a result, Isack Hadjar could graduate from Formula 2 to Racing Bulls.
Special car launch event
Now, everyone's eyes are set on the 2025, while some drivers are still enjoying their well-deserved break. The next event will be the teams presenting their cars together. F1 is celebrating their 75th anniversary. For the special occasion, a special launch event will take place in London. On 18 February, all ten Formula 1 teams will be present with their next challengers at the O2 Arena. There will also be filming days, where teams could run 200km.
Pre-season testing and first Grand Prix
A single pre-season testing event will then take place in Sakhir at the Bahrain International Circuit, similarly to last season. Over three days, drivers will drive their cars for the season with a single driver driving in a session. That event will take place 26-28 February.
This time however, the Bahrain GP is only the fourth one on the calendar. The season will begin in Australia, 14-16 March. It will be a doubleheader for the fans, as the Chinese GP will follow immediately the week after in Shanghai. In China, the first Sprint event will also be hosted.
