Excitement continues: Five talents to follow in F2 and F3 next season
With Oliver Bearman, Kimi Antonelli and Gabriel Bortoleto, three drivers could graduate from F2 after the 2024 season to Formula 1. Isack Hadjar is rumoured to make that number four, while Franco Colapinto could also compete for Williams after replacing Logan Sargeant. Still, there are many talents in the feeder series next year as well. GPblog lists you five storylines to follow in the upcoming season.
Arvid Lindblad - F2, Campos Racing
If Helmut Marko declares that you are the biggest talent in Red Bull's junior programme, the hopes are high as he will replace F2 runner-up Isack Hadjar at Campos. Joining from F3 where he won four times, the British-Swede driver is one follow. He will team up with Spaniard Pepe Marti, who will begin his second season in the competition. Similarly to Antonelli, could an early promotion be on the cards for the now 17-year-old at the end of next year? Lindblad would need to outperform Marti.
Gabriele Mini - F2, Prema
Finishing second in F3 last season, the Alpine Academy driver got the promotion to series for next season. The Italian could immediately score a podium in the Sprint Race in Baku after he had to replace Oliver Bearman (who got the chance at Haas after Kevin Magnussen received a race ban). As Victor Martins does not have a seat in F2, Mini has the chance to progress with a great season. At the moment, ahead of him is Jack Doohan (full-time driver) and Paul Aron (reserve driver).
Dino Beganovic - F2, Hitech
After finishing the F3 season in sixth position and winning two times, Beganovic got an early promotion to F2 at the end of the 2024 season. The driver from Sweden with Bosnian parents without any special tests mid-season, immediately was inside the points in the competition. He only did not score points at the Qatar Sprint, and he then finished fifth, third and seventh at the following races, and had the most points out of the drivers who joined later by the end of the year. He is the member of the Ferrari Driver Academy.
Richard Verschoor - F2, MP Motorsport
Not often a driver gets to spend five season in Formula 2, but that will be the case for Richard Verschoor. Returning to MP Motorsport for the final two Grands Prix already, the Dutchman scored two podiums. A title should be Verschoor's aim, who had many great performances 'deleted' due to technical infringements. It will be interesting to see how a fifth year can help the Dutchman in his career, and whether more drivers in similar situations would follow his path. Last season, he finished eighth in the standings.
Ugo Ugochukwu and Rafael Camara - F3
Instead of a single driver, a potential rivalry between two rookies gets the shout for F3. The young American talent will join Formula 3 after winning the Macau Grand Prix this year. Ugochukwu is the member of the McLaren Driver Development Programme, and won the Euro 4 championship in 2023 competing against Lindblad as well. Last season, he mainly competed in FRECA, where he won a single Grand Prix. The series' champion, Brazilian Rafael Camara will drive for Trident, being a member of the Ferrari junior programme similarly to Beganovic.
