Juan Pablo would not be surprised to see Max Verstappen end up driving for Aston Martin future, provided that the British team's investments go according to what they planned and they will have a fast car in the competition. According to Montoya, the incentive for the Dutchman would be to collaborate with Adrian Newey and Honda once again.

Verstappen to Aston Martin?

Looking at the Aston Martin's current line-up, Montoya first talked about Stroll, explaining that he doesn't understand the criticism the Canadian gets. "I don't think Lance is as bad as people say it is. He's gotten better, but I'm not sure what's the little bit that he's missing or what he needs," the former F1 driver from Colombia began in conversation with InstantCasino.com.

However, when addressing the situation, Montoya would rather point to Alonso's seat opening up by the time Aston Martin could become challengers. "I think the hard thing there is the point where Fernando will benefit from Adrian Newey’s involvement."

The former F1 driver continued: "If everything lines up well, Aston could be winning in ‘27 or ‘28, not before that. But by 2028, Fernando's going to be 47/48. So, who's going to be there? And by then, does Lance still want to race?" Montoya explains why Verstappen could be welcomed if Lawrence Stroll manages to build up a team capable of fighting for titles.

For the now four-time world champion Verstappen, the most important thing is to have a quick car. However, he has also done that for years together with Adrian Newey and Honda at Red Bull Racing"It wouldn't be the most surprising thing in the world if Max Verstappen joined Aston Martin, would it? Honda and Newey; they’d be pretty happy to have Max driving the car," the former Williams and McLaren driver concluded.
