- Nicole Mulder
Laurent Mekies has commented and congratulated former Visa Cash App Racing Bulls driver Liam Lawson, who will drive alongside Max Verstappen at Red Bull Racing next year. The VCARB team boss is very proud of the 22-year-old New Zealander, who is moving up to the sister team after just 11 Grands Prix under his belt.
Mekies congratulates Lawson on the big switch he will make in the 2025 F1 season. "A huge congratulations to Liams!" the team boss begins his message on VCARB's social media platforms. "Everyone at VCARB is very proud to see Liam being promoted to Red Bull Racing."
Mekies: 'We would have liked to have kept Lawson'
"Of course, we would have liked to keep him a little longer, but one of our main missions here at VCARB is to be an incubator of talents for the wider Red Bull family," the 47-year-old Frenchman continued. "Seeing Liam taking the step up is a testimony to the great work he and the team have done this year.
"We wish him all the best of luck; he's going to be mega, and we can't wait to see him on track in 2025," concludes Mekies, whose line-up at Racing Bulls for next year is now known: Isack Hadjar comes over from Formula 2 and becomes Yuki Tsunoda's new teammate.
