Max Verstappen has also been voted the best driver of 2024 by his Formula 1 colleagues. The figures on the F1 website reveal that the Dutchman received the best score among his fellow drivers after also winning the team principals' vote in a similar competition. Verstappen himself did not vote with the others.
Verstappen voted the best driver in Formula 1 in 2024:
A total of 17 drivers who competed in 2024 voted. Besides Verstappen, Sergio Perez and Lewis Hamilton didn't participate in voting. Eight of the drivers who did vote elected Verstappen as the best driver of 2024.
The number of points per driver has not been disclosed, but the final standings have been published. After Verstappen, Norris has scored the most points. In third place is Charles Leclerc, making the top three exactly the same as in the season's championship.
George Russell finds himself in fourth place. The Brit did not make it into the top ten in the driver's standings last season, but with his wins in Austria and Las Vegas, he's managed to make his way into the top four this season. Nico Hulkenberg also sees himself back in the top 10. The German impressed with Haas this year, securing eighth.
Hamilton and Alonso drop sharply in rankings:
There are also two big drops in the top ten. Fernando Alonso has dropped from third place to ninth after a much tougher year for Aston Martin. Lewis Hamilton dropped even more. The seven-time world champion finished second last year but dropped back to 10th this year.
