Arvid Lindblad performs strongly in first race

Setback for Lindblad: Red Bull talent cannot win in New Zealand

Arvid Lindblad is considered a major talent at Red Bull Racing. The Brit is currently racing in New Zealand to eventually get enough points for his super licence. In any case, the first race of the weekend did not go as probably hoped.

Arvid Lindblad has been part of the Red Bull Junior Team since 2022. The 17-year-old quickly impressed Helmut Marko. To gain enough points for a super licence to be elligible to drive an F1 car during one of the mandatory rookie allocated FP1 sessions in 2025, Lindblad is competing in the Formula Regional Oceania Championship this month. As Lindblad will compete in Formula 2 next season, this modest championship is therefore a big step down and the Brit is expected to take the title.

Difficult start in New Zealand for Arvid Lindblad

In the first race, however, he could not yet show that he is the contender for the title. During the free practice sessions, the Brit did show his speed. He finished second, first and second respectively during the three sessions. After qualifying, Lindblad started the first race of the weekend from P3. In the end, he also finished third in the race.

The Brit was able to briefly attack the second placed man during the race, but in the end he did not have enough speed to make the overtake. The second and third races will be held on 12 January at the Taupo International Motorsport Park.
