Red Bull Racing's Senior Power Unit Assembly Technician, Calum Nicholas, shared his thoughts on what he thinks about the 2023 season. While on the podcast "Driven by Us", Nicholas was asked if he had a favourite season in F1 that he has worked. While answering 2023, he mentioned one race in particular that he had issues with.

The 2023 Singapore Grand Prix

"2023, without a doubt, it was nice knowing every week that we were in a good position to go and win," he began. Despite the 2023 season being amazing for both Nicholas and Red Bull Racing, He admits that the Singapore Grand Prix was not a race that the team was going to win. "Other than Singapore, we knew we were screwed in Singapore."

When asked if the Red Bull team ever got comfortable with constantly winning that season, he said, "The nature anyone who chooses to work in Motorsport is going to be the kind of person that regardless of what you achieve you're going to say oh well I could have done that like so for me in 2023 I'm like wow you know what, we did was incredible it was an incredible year the car was amazing". He continued, "Everyone was perfect except for Singapore, and that's how it is. It's always going to be."

"Whether it be performance in the pit lane or it is winning every Sprint race, or you're making sure you get every pole, there's always going to be something where you're like, 'oh, we could have been a little bit better there'." Sinagpore was that race for Nicholas. The 2023 Singapore Grand Prix was the only race through the 2023 season in which Red Bull lost. They won the other 22, with Max Verstappen winning 19 of them.
