Tsunoda still hoping for Red Bull seat: 'That should still be his goal!'
- Savannah Lenz
For the start of the 2025 Formula 1 season, Yuki Tsunoda will once again start the season at VCARB. While he had hoped to be joining Max Verstappen at Red Bull Racing, Liam Lawson was promoted instead. Speaking to Motorsport, Racing Bulls' Racing Director Alan Permane mentioned that Tsnuoda should still be aiming for a seat at the Milton Keynes-based team.
Tsunoda still heading to Red Bull Racing in the future?
At the end of the 2024 F1 season, Tsunoda spoke about a possible move to Red Bull Racing, as he had felt like he was ready to move from the junior team. However, that did not happen, as Liam Lawson got the chance instead of the Japanese driver.
Despite having lost out on the seat, he has been given the advice to not give up just yet. "Hopefully, if I can bring him on 1% to help him out, I’d be super happy," Permane began.
"Nothing would make me happier than to get him to a level where he can move to the top team, into Red Bull. Quite rightly, that should be his target, and it should be our target. One of the reasons for this team – and it’s not the only reason anymore – is to develop talent. If we can turn him into a race winner, fantastic."
On the topic of Tsunoda's temper, Permane also mentioned that his driver understands that he should not get as frustrated, and that Tsunoda has been working towards being more calm.
