The past few days have been full of Lewis Hamilton's first days at Ferrari, but new drivers are also being welcomed by the other teams on the grid. As a result, Liam Lawson has completed his first day at Red Bull Racing.

Lawson will be Max Verstappen's new teammate at Red Bull from 2025. After Sergio Perez and the Austrian team came to an agreement to release the Mexican before his contract was up, a spot next to the Dutchman became available. This was to go to one of the two drivers who were in action at the end of last year on behalf of Visa Cash App RB: Yuki Tsunoda or Liam Lawson. In the end, the latter walked away with the seat, while Tsunoda will stay with the newly-named Racing Bulls for 2025.

Lawson is no stranger to Red Bull Racing. In 2019, the New Zealander joined the team, and between 2022 and 2024, he was a reserve driver at Red Bull and at the Austrian racing stable's sister team.

But last Wednesday, there would have been a different feeling from the one he previously had by the New Zealander when walking into the Red Bull Technology Campus for the first time as a Red Bull driver. He was at the campus in Milton Keynes to prepare for the upcoming Formula One season.

Within Red Bull, there is a lot of confidence that Lawson will do well at the Austrian team. Helmut Marko did, however, give the New Zealander an important tip. According to the advisor, the brand-new Red Bull driver should accept and not try to beat his teammate, Verstappen.
